Asu no Yoichi!
His skill with a sword is magnificent but his social skills still need a lot of work!
After many long years perfecting the art of fighting, 17-year-old Karasuma Yoichi is sent down from the remote mountains where he has been raised thinking that he’s going to study some new martial arts techniques… but what he’s really going to learn about are some slightly more practical things, like electrical appliances, modern clothing and, most especially, how NOT to make girls want to kill you!
Unfortunately, that last lesson is one Yoichi may not survive, as his new dojo is infested with the infernal creatures in the form of the Ikaruga sisters, and they don’t really seem to understand how “proper” girls are “supposed” to behave! Will Yoichi’s bushido blade be struck down by the fearsome charms of Ibuki, Ayame, Chihaya, and Kagome? Or will the equally lethal girls from the rival Tsubame school be his undoing?
Genre: Comedy, Ecchi, Romance, Shounen
Age Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older
No. of Episodes: 12
Plus: Funny jokes |
Minus: Incomplete story | Left out the romance |
Asu no Yoichi is enjoyable to watch. The jokes gave me real good laughs. What’s more, the chemistry among Yoichi and Ikaruga sisters are interesting and I looking forward for more relationship development as the story progresses.
However, to my disappointment, there isn’t much explanation nor shown progress in the love-triangle of Yoichi x Ibuki x Ayame. Instead, they choose to go for family spirit and bushido.
Sad, but at least “familyship” and bushido are something worth to hold to.
Major Plot – 6/10
Story Details – 6/10
Story Progress – 5/10
Attraction – 7.5/10
Year & Season: 2009 Winter
Plus: Nice character artwork |
Artwork is nice especially the character design and the lively colour choice. I must say the character design do hit the spot but this is rather subjective as different people have different taste in this matter.
Overall, animation quality is slightly above average without much questionable scenes.
Artwork – 7/10

Animation – 7/10
- “Egao no Riyuu (笑顔の理由)” by meg rock
- “Life and Proud” by Misato Aki
The music and soundtrack aren’t outstanding, they’re rather plain and typical. Anyhow, they served their purpose well and do not create any awkward moments.
The seiyuu are experienced, and they’ve done a very good job in voicing the characters.
Theme Song(s) – 3/6
Soundtrack – 4/8
Voice Cast – 5/6
The last quarter basically ruined the whole story. I could’ve give higher marks if they put a proper end to the love-relationship.
24.5 + 20.5 + 12 + 7 = 64 points
64points, GOOD anime [03/10/2012]
