Rosewill RK-9000 Mechanical Keyboard

Rosewill RK-9000 - 12

Intro

Today we have a Rosewill RK-9000 in house. Before we get started, allow me to briefly go through what is a mechanical keyboard.

The term, mechanical keyboard, as the name suggests, it is a keyboard consists of mechanical switches under each individual keys. Imagine there are 104 on/off switch on your keyboard just to differentiate which keypress to register. This differs from those regular rubber dome keyboards as those comes with a sheet of rubber domes under the whole keyboard, and a keypress is registered when the dome is compressed and makes contact with the circuit board. Read here if you’re interested to know more about mechanical keyboards.

Rosewill RK-9000 comes with four different Cherry MX switches – Blue, Brown, Black, and Red. The review sample we have is equipped with clicky-tactile switch – Cherry MX Blue. Read on to know more about this keyboard and my thoughts on the keyboard.

Audio-Technica ATH-M50

ATH-M50 - 01

Intro

I still remember, the very first time when I purchased a pair of expensive headphones. I was 15 and for me a RM100 headphones are considered high end stuff. It was a rather ordinary headphone by Philips – SHP2700, but then I think I cried when I listened to it for the first time. The music sounds more lively and clear with the headphones compared with my other cheapo IEMs.

Poor man’s joy

That Philips is still working fine till today, and I gave it to my sister because she wanted to watch movies at night in her dorm. I was reluctant but it has to give way to another pair.

And… I got myself the Audio Technica ATH-M50. It was a HUGE upgrade and my wallet hurts. Damage dealt – RM550-RM600

SilverStone Temjin TJ08-E

TJ08-E - 01

I’ve been using Lancool PC-K62 mid-tower case for almost three years, and I must say that carrying around a heavy steel case including all the innards is killing me. Unless we’re talking about cases made of aluminium, otherwise, they’d just get heavier especially those full tower steel cases. Even worst, I don’t actually need all that space of a mid tower.

So, for the next PC update, I went on and made some research on SFF (small form factor) cases. In the end, I got the SilverStone Temjin TJ08-E. This case is well accepted by the community because of the design and performance. Whatever, let’s have a look at this fat little case.

Project 3470 Update

Project 3470 - 02

Update from my previous post where I mentioned on a new PC building project.

The naming of the project comes from the processor model number – Intel Core i5-3470 - http://ark.intel.com/products/68316

Since I don’t plan on extreme overclocking, I went for economic build, taking the regular i5 instead of the flagship i5-3570K. By the way, non-K board still can overclock mildly with proper motherboard chipset.

Project 3470

2012 July - 06

It’s been nearly 3 years after the completion of my current PC - Project 955. It went through quite a number of updates, like the most recent SSD and GPU update. But that PC is one hell of heavy bastard. The case itself weights about 10KG, haven’t include the internal components leh.

I’m saying so because my PC travels with me occasionally since I’m still a university student. Luckily I didn’t choose to go for full tower last time. You know, I was pretty hot blooded in custom PC and hardware stuff back then.

So, With the death of my home’s old Pentium D PC, I decide to replace it with Project 955 while building a new PC for myself – Project 3470.

VorTex POKER Mechanical Keyboard

KBC Poker - 04

Intro

Since I have only little knowledge on the China’s mechanical keyboard community, as much as I know is VorTex is/are the guy(s) who designed and manufactured this keyboard. KBC is a community rather than being a brand, they helps to distribute the end product. Originates from a China forum which a group of talented people teamed up to design and produce the Poker.

Hence the X that means crossover between VorTex and KBC.

So, after getting full sized keyboard for home use, I got this as my portable mechanical keyboard for my netbook. This shows how poisonous mechanical keyboards are, I no longer satisfy with regular rubber dome keyboard or laptop’s scissor switch keyboard.

Anyhow, let’s get into the review.

Logitech TrackMan Marble

TrackMan Marble - 01

Intro

Other than your everyday computer mice, a trackball is also a computer pointing device. In fact they’re invented far earlier than mouse, and due to the mouse has better public acceptance, hence the downfall of trackballs.

However, trackballs still has their roles to play in today’s computing environment, for instance medical field and certain design industry. Nevertheless, there’s still a group of enthusiasts supporting trackballs as the most original computer pointing device.

I always wanted to try to use a trackball all this year, and I made the purchase during my last trip to LowYat Plaza. Without futher delay, here’s the review. (expect a complete amateur review)
