<p>This photo-set was supposed to be posted last year, but I decided to delay it because I missed the chance to visit Boh tea centre at Sungai Palas during the trip.</p>
<p>I personally thinks that Boh tea centre is a must-visit spot for those who went to Cameron Highlands, just remember to check the closing day and time of the tea centre to avoid the same mistake I&#8217;ve done.</p>

<p>Self-pick strawberries.</p>
<p>It might sounds fun but seriously no, it&#8217;s a rip-off. The strawberries are charged more expensive than those packaged strawberries.</p>
<p>Only locals are so obsessed with these climate specific fruits, I bet those foreigners are amused by our obsession.</p>

<p>My first vote for Malaysia&#8217;s General Election 2013.</p>
<p>Indelible ink was meant to prevent certain individuals from casting repeated votes, SPR claimed that it could last for one week but someone actually was able to wash off the ink by using dishwashing liquid. What a joke.</p>

<p>This was three months ago when UTAR photography society organized the photo outing at Kellie&#8217;s Castle.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been at Kampar for almost 4 years and Batu Gajah is just around 30 minutes drive yet I&#8217;ve never been there. &gt;&lt;</p>
<p>Good thing that our photography society organizes this photo outing.</p>
<p><span id="more-5205"></span></p>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 02" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8954783501/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 02" alt="Kellie's Castle - 02" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2874/8954783501_d170aea917_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>Kellie&#8217;s Castle is not exactly a huge castle as what you imagine as any European castles. But consider that during 1910s, the project of building this mansion is so ambitious that it is classified as castle.</p>
<p><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kellie's_Castle" target="_blank">More about the history behind the castle</a>.</p>
<p>Discovery Channel made a documentary video about the castle as well. There&#8217;s 3 parts of the video, but I&#8217;m sure you can easily find the second and third part.</p>
<span class='embed-youtube' style='text-align:center; display: block;'><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text/html' width='584' height='359' src='http://www.youtube.com/embed/a3dLSQxsE6Y?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent' frameborder='0'></iframe></span>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 03" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8954782939/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 03" alt="Kellie's Castle - 03" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3805/8954782939_a24785b0b6_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Ice breaking session.</p>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 04" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8954782845/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 04" alt="Kellie's Castle - 04" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3671/8954782845_dd1f252f88_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 05" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8955978510/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 05" alt="Kellie's Castle - 05" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3796/8955978510_80124b842c_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>It drizzles a bit in the morning. The moody weather isn&#8217;t that great for outdoor shots.. but surprisingly the weather clears up in no time.</p>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 06" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8955978000/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 06" alt="Kellie's Castle - 06" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7304/8955978000_89bf84e5c9_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>The owner, William Kellie Smith, died during the construction of the mansion, hence it was left unfinished.. On top of that, the mansion went through WW2, so there&#8217;s quite a lot part of the mansion is destroyed.</p>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 07" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8954781399/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 07" alt="Kellie's Castle - 07" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5332/8954781399_017d874133_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>

<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 09" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8954779771/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 09" alt="Kellie's Castle - 09" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5456/8954779771_74999e9a6b_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>There&#8217;s quite a few rooms like that&#8230;</p>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 10" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8954779641/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 10" alt="Kellie's Castle - 10" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3721/8954779641_8d9219113e_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 11" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8955974852/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 11" alt="Kellie's Castle - 11" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3717/8955974852_9d4e4af55c_b.jpg" width="601" height="900" /></a></p>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 12" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8954778127/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 12" alt="Kellie's Castle - 12" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7284/8954778127_408092617b_b.jpg" width="601" height="900" /></a></p>
<p>Secret passage is available for each room, all of them leads out of the mansion.. but they&#8217;re not as secretive as you might imagine.</p>
<p>I&#8217;d say they&#8217;re more like emergency escape passage instead of secret passage..</p>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 13" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8954778055/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 13" alt="Kellie's Castle - 13" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3816/8954778055_9e6daafda3_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>

<p>Kellas House, William&#8217;s first house which he then expands to become Kellie&#8217;s castle.</p>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 17" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8955972644/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 17" alt="Kellie's Castle - 17" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3793/8955972644_ab9c0fa2b3_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>The mansion has a rooftop courtyard and it is rumoured for parties because William loves partying.</p>
<p>Party hard, yeah baby.</p>

<p>William planned to build a 6 storey tall tower equipped with elevator, which would be the very first elevator in Malaya.</p>
<p>Such a shame that the project was stalled. What would actually powers the elevator? hmm.. my bet goes to human-powahh.</p>
<p><a title="Kellie's Castle - 25" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/42653268@N03/8955965874/" target="_blank" rel=""><img title="Kellie's Castle - 25" alt="Kellie's Castle - 25" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3811/8955965874_3688dd39f2_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>Inside of Kellas House, this is the original William&#8217;s house before the castle &#8220;add-on&#8221;.</p>

<p>Which means, this side is the actual front of the castle.</p>
<p>Many people got it wrong because the main entrance to this tourist spot is from the back.</p>

<p>Pretty much sums up the month.</p>
<p>I started using Google Calendar to manage my calendar events ever since I got my smartphone. But then I realized, although I could bring everything like to-do list, notes and calendar on my smartphone, I still prefer to have a hard copy so that I could doodle on it.</p>
<p>Do you use any personal planner apps or similar kind of tools to boost your productivity?</p>

<p>Had a themed faculty photoshoot session.</p>
<p><a title="2013 April - 03 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8908349525/"><img alt="2013 April - 03" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7383/8908349525_cdd92c56e4_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>aftermath of BBQ, they start to BBQ other stuff..</p>
<p><a title="2013 April - 04 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8908976036/"><img alt="2013 April - 04" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5470/8908976036_4bab876785_b.jpg" width="900" height="675" /></a></p>
<p>This was taken when I went for a ride at the new road construction site near Kampar Putra.</p>
<p>Great off-road and the view is simply amazing. Too bad I went out too late, and I have to rush home before it gone dark.</p>
<p><a title="2013 April - 05 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8908348409/"><img alt="2013 April - 05" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5443/8908348409_47e6d8c616_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>In the midst of harsh finals, we manage to squeeze one day to go to Cameron Highlands.</p>
<p>Last time I missed the opportunity to visit Boh&#8217;s Tea farm due to bad scheduling which they&#8217;ve closed for the day. This time, I&#8217;m not going to repeat the same mistake.</p>
<p>Breathtaking view and definitely recommended as the perfect getaway from your hectic working or study life.</p>

<p>March, it was the second half of the semester, tests and assignments coming in as if all the lecturers had mutual agreement to kill all of us in one shot.</p>
<p>It feels much more busy than ever due to the final year project application development phase. Nevertheless, I still manage to squeeze some free time to take part in various activities.</p>
<p>Some of the photos in this post are taken with a smartphone camera.</p>
<p><span id="more-5110"></span></p>

<p>No doubt Kinokuniya is the best book store throughout Malaysia, cause they have a dedicated section for Japanese books.</p>

<p>Try to pronounce Valvrave in Japanese &gt; barubureibu&#8230; some sort of tongue twister</p>
<p>It&#8217;s been quite a while since I last had a new mecha series in my watchlist. This season we have Valvrave the Liberator which seems quite promising.</p>
<p>Not sure if this is another overbudget commercial for Bandai&#8217;s upcoming product or a hidden gem.</p>
<p><span id="more-5107"></span></p>
<p><a title="Valvrave - 01 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8738129331/"><img alt="Valvrave - 01" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7281/8738129331_ec3881ed67_b.jpg" width="900" /></a></p>
<p>First episode introduces the universe, characters and then puts a lot of question marks on your head.</p>
<p>Character design was fine though, especially the eyes. Mecha design is hit or miss. Valvrave is quite spectacular with the aggressive design and colouring, meanwhile regular mechs used by heading-out-to-die soldier ain&#8217;t that fancy.</p>
<p><a title="Valvrave - 02 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8739248522/"><img alt="Valvrave - 02" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7283/8739248522_8087a4fdbc_b.jpg" width="900" /></a></p>

<p>That UI.</p>

<p>On top of that cliff-hanger ending for the episode, I&#8217;m looking forward for more development throughout the series.</p>

<p>Just finished the first 2 episodes of Oreimo season 2 and they&#8217;re great and entertaining. First season of Oreimo caught my attention being an anime about Otaku girls and imouto stuff, to be frank, after completing it, I&#8217;m very sure that Kuroneko is the main reason I continue watching Oreimo S2. Nope, I&#8217;m not saying the other aspects are not up to my expectation or what, just that Kuroneko being superior than the former. By the way, last season was left off with a cliff-hanger where Kuroneko kisses Kyousuke and left without much explanation. Looking forward for more interaction between Kuroneko and Kyousuke.</p>
<p><span id="more-5100"></span></p>

<p>Ah, I long hoped that I have that much moolah to afford all those games and figures purchases.</p>

<p>The face we all made when we play that certain games. Episode 2 is filled with all these faces and the story is hilarious.</p>

<p>2013 Spring season anime has started for almost a month, which title you&#8217;ve picked for the season?</p>
<p><a title="2013 Spring Anime chart by neregate" href="http://neregate.com/blog/2013/02/13/spring-2013-anime/" target="_Blank"><img alt="Spring 2013 Anime Chart v3" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8115/8692536740_3c05322845.jpg" width="64" height="331" /></a></p>
<p>Thanks to <a href="http://neregate.com/blog/2013/02/13/spring-2013-anime/" target="_blank">neregate</a> for the chart.</p>
<p><span id="more-5095"></span></p>
<h2>What I&#8217;ll be watching:</h2>
<p><a title="Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8691418739/"><img alt="Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8120/8691418739_0175d5a51c_b.jpg" width="900" height="457" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S<br />
とある科学の超電磁砲S</strong></p>
<p>First of all, the long awaited second season of biri-biri Railgun!</p>
<p>I enjoyed watching Toaru series especially Railgun series. Index series was not really my type cause it has much serious tone compared to Railgun.</p>
<p>For sure Railgun S would be in my watchlist.</p>
<p><a title="Oreimo Season 2 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8692536398/"><img alt="Oreimo Season 2" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8542/8692536398_84c1219d21_b.jpg" width="900" height="604" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga nai<br />
俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない</strong></p>
<p>Another continuing series that&#8217;s showing this season would be this mouthful, &#8220;Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga nai.&#8221;.</p>
<p>This series needs more Kuroneko screen time.</p>
<p><a title="shingeki no kyoujin by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8691418961/"><img alt="shingeki no kyoujin" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8264/8691418961_e3692d9a61_b.jpg" width="900" height="605" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Attack on Titan</strong><br />
<strong>進撃の巨人</strong></p>
<p>The word &#8220;Titan&#8221; is a powerful word, instead of &#8220;Giant&#8221;. It makes the subject seems much spectacular and fearsome than anything else.</p>
<p>No matter what, the PV caught my attention and I&#8217;m really curious how the plot would turn out.</p>
<span class='embed-youtube' style='text-align:center; display: block;'><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text/html' width='584' height='359' src='http://www.youtube.com/embed/KKzmOh4SuBc?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent' frameborder='0'></iframe></span>
<p><a title="valvrave by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8692535836/"><img alt="valvrave" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8104/8692535836_8efaac5bcd_b.jpg" width="644" height="756" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Valvrave the Liberator</strong><br />
<strong>革命機ヴァルヴレイヴ</strong></p>
<p>Mecha series animated by Sunrise animation studio. Yes I like mecha series especially Gundam series, what not Macross, Code Geass and Gurren Lagann.</p>
<p>Worth a try since the PV seems superbly nice with all those CG stuff.</p>

<h2>What I might try:</h2>
<p><a title="HatarakuMaou-sama by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8692536770/"><img alt="HatarakuMaou-sama" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8395/8692536770_91c8877ab3_b.jpg" width="900" height="563" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Hataraku Maou-sama</strong><br />
<strong>はたらく魔王さま</strong></p>
<p>Not sure why I wanted to try this out. Perhaps a base story about a demon king working in our timeline would be interesting.. Or I&#8217;m hoping it to be a comedy..</p>

<h2>Intro</h2>
<p>Today we have a Rosewill RK-9000 in house. Before we get started, allow me to briefly go through what is a mechanical keyboard.</p>
<p>The term, mechanical keyboard, as the name suggests, it is a keyboard consists of mechanical switches under each individual keys. Imagine there are 104 on/off switch on your keyboard just to differentiate which keypress to register. This differs from those regular rubber dome keyboards as those comes with a sheet of rubber domes under the whole keyboard, and a keypress is registered when the dome is compressed and makes contact with the circuit board. <a href="http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/mechanical-keyboard-guide" target="_blank">Read here</a> if you&#8217;re interested to know more about mechanical keyboards.</p>
<p>Rosewill RK-9000 comes with four different Cherry MX switches &#8211; Blue, Brown, Black, and Red. The review sample we have is equipped with clicky-tactile switch &#8211; Cherry MX Blue. Read on to know more about this keyboard and my thoughts on the keyboard.</p>

<h2>Packaging</h2>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 01 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8536117393/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 01" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8371/8536117393_bf319da08c_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Box front view.</p>
<p>The design of the box is not fancy. It shows a full image of the keyboard with text description for the product in English and French. No idea why French is one of the primary languages for the box.</p>
<p>Anyhow, I don&#8217;t really mind if the box is plain as soon as it provides a certain level of protection to the keyboard.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 02 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8536117203/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 02" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8098/8536117203_6da6a50488_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>A smaller picture showing that this RK-9000 is equipped with Cherry MX Blue switches, along with some feature description text.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 03 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8537220354/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 03" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8249/8537220354_9de4f29358_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Back of the box.</p>
<p>More production descriptions.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 04 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8537220032/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 04" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8388/8537220032_3ae3ddde0b_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>Open box.</p>
<p>The packaging design is not that secured. There isn&#8217;t much paddings around the keyboard except a piece of thin layer of foam cover and the box.</p>
<p>So far as I know, Ducky DK-9008G2 has the best packaging, it looks great and what not, it has layers of paddings between the keyboard and the box. But nowadays many boards are coming in this kind of package, lower cost.</p>
<p>RK-9000 doesn&#8217;t come with a clear plastic keyboard cover as offered by certain mechanical keyboard manufacturers.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 05 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8536116815/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 05" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8516/8536116815_1583b8533f_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Included in box:</p>
<ul>
<li><span style="line-height: 15px;">RK-9000 keyboard</span></li>
<li>Mini-USB to USB cable</li>
<li>Mini-USB to PS/2 cable</li>
<li>User manual</li>
</ul>
<p>Interesting that Rosewill is including two types of cables in the package &#8211; a USB and a PS/2. Other keyboard manufacturers usually include a USB-PS/2 converter along with a standard Mini-USB to USB cable.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s no included accessories such as custom key caps or key cap removal tool.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 06 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8537219722/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 06" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8516/8537219722_02b649e557_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>More like a technical specification sheet rather than user manual.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 07 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8536116381/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 07" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8237/8536116381_ba8ae3372b_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>The cables are thick and braided.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 08 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8537218814/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 08" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8251/8537218814_8bc09c1275_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Close up at the cable braiding.</p>
<p>The cable feels a little stiff probably due to the thickness or braiding.</p>
<h2>Looks, Feel and Usability</h2>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 09 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8536116317/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 09" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8536116317_ce47391160_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Plain and simple looks. Many people asked me why mechanical keyboards are so expensive despite they looks so ordinary. No fancy lighting, no media controls, no short-cut keys, even less feature than any regular multimedia keyboards. Well, the answer lies underneath each and every key caps &#8211; the switches.</p>
<p>Another reason &#8211; plain is classy. Instead of gamerz style with wacky designs and gimmicks.</p>
<p>By the way, the keyboard layout is US ANSI with standard key layout. This means you can easily find replacement key caps or even custom key caps.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 10 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8536116237/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 10" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8386/8536116237_9fe0333fa6_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Rosewill logo above the lock LEDs.</p>
<p>Some complained that the logo is ugly. I thought it looks pretty classic.</p>
<p>LED lock indicators are pretty bright in dark environment, but if you don&#8217;t look into the light it won&#8217;t blind you. But still, I have to turn off the Num Lock LED before I go to bed.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 11 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8537219198/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 11" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8389/8537219198_a17dd1e1a4_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Even this is not a custom board, the backplate is sexy with the bright red colour.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 12 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8536115921/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 12" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8097/8536115921_c7965daede_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Regular RK-9000 comes with matte black chassis.</p>
<p>RK-9000 also comes in a <a href="http://www.rosewill.com/about/news_detail.aspx?newsid=317" target="_blank">limited edition Ivory chassis</a>.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 13 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8536115795/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 13" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8227/8536115795_2d80ec5e45_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Mini-USB out located at the top right section of the keyboard.</p>
<p>Many asked about the previous USB problem faced by RK-9000, Rosewill has already fixed the problem since late 2012. Not sure why they don&#8217;t give a new revision model number for the updated board.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 15 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8537218882/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 15" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8370/8537218882_aee8ebb5ef_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Back of the keyboard.</p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t comes with any dip switch to change the keyboard functionality such as disabling windows key, swapping left control key with caps lock and etc</p>
<p>Truly a basic mechanical keyboard.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 16 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8537218452/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 16" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8514/8537218452_6d704b8391_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Keyboard label at the back.</p>
<p>Not as fancy as certain boards that comes with aluminium-alike sticker label.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 17 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8537218590/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 17" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8093/8537218590_2c21a88915_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Elevation feet is quite solid. Too bad it doesn&#8217;t comes with rubber pad on it, so the keyboard might skid a bit if you push your keyboard sideways.</p>
<p>Otherwise, if you don&#8217;t use the elevation feet, the 4 big rubber pads at the base of the keyboard is sufficient in keeping your keyboard in place, even a rigorous gaming session.</p>
<p><a title="Rosewill RK-9000 - 18 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8537218504/" target="_blank"><img alt="Rosewill RK-9000 - 18" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8369/8537218504_f6b1391a2a_b.jpg" width="900" height="598" /></a></p>
<p>Approximately 4 degree elevation angle, height of elevation is about 12mm at the highest point.</p>
<h2>Conclusion</h2>
<p><strong>Pros:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Genuine Cherry MX switches</li>
<li>Great build quality &#8211; 8.5/10</li>
<li>Plate mounted &#8211; solid typing feel and increase stability and it&#8217;s RED!!</li>
<li>Standard US-ANSI layout (easy key cap replacement)</li>
<li>Detachable USB cable</li>
<li>Solid elevation feet</li>
<li>Quality rubber feet</li>
<li>Individual USB and PS/2 cable &#8211; braided</li>
<li>Laser etched key cap printing &#8211; more durable than pad printed</li>
<li>6KRO (USB) &amp; NKRO (PS/2)</li>
<li>Mid-High customizability &#8211; Standard layout for universal key caps fitting</li>
<li>Bang for the buck &#8211; RM299 SRP for a quality board by Costar OEM</li>
<li>3 years warranty</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Subjective:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Regular design &#8211; personal preference</li>
<li>Plated mounted &#8211; increased stability, but lowered customizability if compared with PCB mounted</li>
<li>Wired Stabilizers &#8211; Original feel of the switch, but troublesome when changing key caps</li>
<li>ABS key caps &#8211; less durable than PBT, but cheaper</li>
<li>Heavy weight &#8211; stability VS portability</li>
<li>No multimedia or short cut keys</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Cons:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Lack of accessories &#8211; no included key caps or key cap puller</li>
<li>No multimedia or short cut keys</li>
<li>No configurable options &#8211; disable Windows key, swapping left CTRL and Caps Lock</li>
</ul>
<p>Upon taking the keyboard out of the box, immediately I could feel the weight and solidness of the keyboard. It gives an impression that you could use it as a weapon. I tried to look for any parts that is hollow and turned out only the bottom of the chassis is. One thing that I don&#8217;t understand is whenever I switch on my room&#8217;s air conditioner, as the room temperature drops, the keyboard would make some squeaking noise as if thermal expansion (SCIENCE!) is happening on the keyboard&#8217;s metal plate. I suspect that the assembly of the keyboard is too tight hence there&#8217;s no room of the metal plate to contract/expand. I&#8217;m not sure if anyone is experiencing the same phenomenon as I had.</p>
<p>Coincidentally, the keyboard came during my Final Year Project development phase, which requires a lot of coding of course not to forget about the report typing. So basically my project&#8217;s system is developed on this keyboard. It was a joy using this keyboard, as a Costar OEM-ed keyboard, the typing feel resembles Filco&#8217;s Majestouch line ups, albeit different label and lower price tag.</p>
<p>To conclude, Rosewill&#8217;s RK-9000 surprised me with its awesome quality at an affordable price point. I was sceptical at first when people mentioned that Rosewill&#8217;s keyboard has made a comeback with their latest revision of RK-9000. Previously, RK-9000 is bugged with the problematic USB connection problem, but it is no more a concern as they already fixed the issue. After using the board for more than a month, I&#8217;m pretty sure that this keyboard is a great deal.</p>

<p>This has to be the most delayed post I&#8217;ve ever made throughout my blogging life.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m having my final semester and the schedule was hectic. Other than completing the project, I still have 3 other subjects that needs my attention.</p>
<p>Anyhow, I&#8217;ve submitted the final report and conducted the presentation and system demonstration. That pretty much sums up the assignments and all other stuff for the semester. What&#8217;s left are the papers in the coming 4 weeks.</p>

<p>As always, I started my day with my daily dose of Google Reader fest. Right after loading up the web app, I was greeted by a message stating that Google Reader will be unavailable after 1st July, 2013. I was shocked by the notification, and immediately I google for related news to clarify whether it is true. Turned out the internet is also freaked out with Google&#8217;s announcement.</p>
<p>Ever since I got my hands on RSS feed, I had tried all sorts of applications and services. I&#8217;ve experienced sync issues, lost feeds, or troublesome app based settings. Soon afterwards, I met Google Reader, I was really happy with their simplistic functionalities and features. What not, it is superbly handy and easy to use as you can access it anywhere as soon as you have Internet connection and a browser or the app on your mobile device.</p>
<p>on Google Reader, I had all sorts of subscribed feeds from fellow bloggers to different news sites, be it about latest happenings, technology or Japan related. Google Reader has become my news centre and I go through about 170 pieces of news/articles a day. It hurts me that Google wants to shut of the service due to the declining of the usage.</p>
<p>RSS is not dead yet, please retain reader for the sake of Internet. You can sign a petition or do something to let Google know we want it to live.</p>

<p>I remember that time I just got into cycling, naturally one would look for anything related to his hobby and I stumbled across this anime. It received good reviews which was written back in 2008 on MyAnimeList. I remember I had the complete series ready since 3 years ago, however I kept it on hold since then for unknown reason.</p>
<p><span id="more-4984"></span></p>
<p><a title="Over Drive - 02 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8441134306/"><img alt="Over Drive - 02" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8212/8441134306_9235e31481_b.jpg" width="704" height="396" /></a></p>
<p>Got the DVD out of the box and start to watch it. Immediately I&#8217;m annoyed by the stupidity of the main protagonist, Shinozaki Mikoto.</p>
<p>Maybe he&#8217;s portrayed as a clumsy and stupid to provide a certain level of comedic effect. But dear production team of Over Drive, I seriously don&#8217;t get your sense of humour.</p>
<p>The jokes are horrible.</p>
<p><a title="Over Drive - 03 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8441134312/"><img alt="Over Drive - 03" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8505/8441134312_2e9fb320e9_b.jpg" width="704" height="396" /></a></p>
<p>Next up, the female protagonist, Fukuzawa Yuki, which I have no idea what&#8217;s her purpose in this show at this point of time.</p>
<p><a title="Over Drive - 04 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8440043487/"><img alt="Over Drive - 04" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8494/8440043487_7ebc044ab4_b.jpg" width="704" height="396" /></a></p>
<p>le random sketching scene..</p>

<p><a title="Over Drive - 06 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8441134126/"><img alt="Over Drive - 06" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8492/8441134126_a63c910abd_b.jpg" width="704" height="396" /></a></p>
<p>If you watched the episode (or refer to above 2 screenshots), you&#8217;ll be amazed that red colour is produced from blue paint..</p>
<p><a title="Over Drive - 01 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8441134282/"><img alt="Over Drive - 01" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8357/8441134282_a982f9e192_b.jpg" width="704" height="396" /></a></p>
<p>Bad jokes, bad transition of scenes, bad BGM and worst of all awkward silence during certain scenes. But one thing it excels, the spirit of cycling.</p>
<p>I wonder if I manage to complete this series or not..</p>

<p><a title="Oreshura by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8363425660/" target="_blank"><img alt="Oreshura" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8218/8363425660_e39aa066ee_b.jpg" width="800" height="760" /></a></p>
<p><em>&#8220;Eita enters high school aiming for the National University School of Medicine. Because of his parents&#8217; divorce—and his goal—he shuns anything to do with romance or love. One day, Masuzu, the school beauty with the silver hair who has just returned to the country, enters his life in a most unexpected way. Chiwa, his childhood friend since elementary school, will not let this go without a fight.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>I don&#8217;t get it, is it a trend or what? Why there&#8217;s so many new titles comes with a long name, then just to shortcut the title into a shorter one.</p>
<p>Romance-comedy is good, but one thing I dislike is most of the rom-com&#8217;s male protagonist are purposely portrayed as a senseless and stupid brat. Just hope that this series don&#8217;t walk down the same path of destruction.</p>
<p>ps* Masuzu is such a beauty.</p>
<span class='embed-youtube' style='text-align:center; display: block;'><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text/html' width='584' height='359' src='http://www.youtube.com/embed/GdgT9WcaoQ4?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent' frameborder='0'></iframe></span>
<p><strong>Tamako Market</strong></p>
<p><a title="Tamako Market by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8363426168/" target="_blank"><img alt="Tamako Market" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8075/8363426168_310f95e8af_b.jpg" width="555" height="800" /></a></p>
<p><em>&#8220;Tamako is a mochi-loving high-school freshman whose family runs a mochi (rice cake) shop in a certain town&#8217;s shopping district. She enjoys her high school life with her friends Midori and Kanna in the badminton club. She also helps out at her family&#8217;s shop and develops new mochi.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>Moeblob anime by Kyoto Animation.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been KyoAni&#8217;s fans since I first watched AIR. I was surprised to know that Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu and TSR are animated by them as well. That strengthens my belief that KyoAni is amazing. But who could have thought of the success of K-ON! would made KyoAni to stop evolving. Their character styling looks exactly identical, just look at K-ON!, Hyouka, Chuunibyou and Tamako Market. Well, I can&#8217;t deny that particular styling makes the characters looks illegally cute.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, I&#8217;m watching this series because I enjoy watching the way KyoAni animate their series.</p>
<p>PV 1-5</p>
<span class='embed-youtube' style='text-align:center; display: block;'><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text/html' width='584' height='359' src='http://www.youtube.com/embed/MpR6pSMWCz0?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent' frameborder='0'></iframe></span>
<h2>What I might check out:</h2>
<p><strong>Maoyuu Maou Yuusha</strong></p>
<p><a title="Maoyuu Maou Yuusha by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8362362637/" target="_blank"><img alt="Maoyuu Maou Yuusha" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8356/8362362637_37b17b266e_b.jpg" width="900" /></a></p>
<p><em>&#8220;After a long and treacherous journey, our Hero finally arrives at the Dark Lady&#8217;s castle only to find himself being asked for help. The Hero explains how the war that the demons have brought upon the humans have killed thousands and put more in misery. The queen of demons however argues that this war has made the human society band together as one and showed empirical evidence how it has increased population, increased production, boosted economy and improved society overall. Furthermore, she explains to the Hero that ending this war will result in a civil war that will produce more bloodshed than there ever was. The Hero, convinced that the only way to bring peace, relatively speaking, is to join forces with the Dark Lady, agrees to help with her plans!&#8221;</em></p>
<p>The Devil King is actually a female, and she has big boobs.</p>

<p><strong>Minami-ke Tadaima</strong></p>
<p><a title="Minami-ke Tadaima by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8363425654/" target="_blank"><img alt="Minami-ke Tadaima" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8195/8363425654_afcf93837a_b.jpg" width="755" height="800" /></a></p>
<p>I still have Minami-ke season 1-3 backlogged&#8230;</p>

<p>Starting off the month with 2012 December&#8217;s <a href="http://www.jlpt.jp/e/" target="_blank">JLPT</a> examination. I was lucky that I passed the JLPT N5 during the July&#8217;s session, and I thought it wouldn&#8217;t hurt if I try out my luck in N4 at the end of the year.</p>
<p>Compared with N5, I doubt that lady luck is with me this time.</p>
<p>Are you interested in learning Japanese?</p>

<p><a title="2012 December - 02 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8343179866/" target="_blank"><img alt="2012 December - 02" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8493/8343179866_8c0c24b6b3_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>Went to Low Yat Plaza and picked up a wireless Xbox 360 controller for Windows. Great for some PC games as well as PS2 emulator.</p>
<p>Was planning to get the wired controller because it is cheaper and I don&#8217;t need to feed it batteries, but couldn&#8217;t found it throughout the whole plaza. I guess they have higher profit margin if they sell the wireless version.</p>
<p><a title="2012 December - 03 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8343179628/" target="_blank"><img alt="2012 December - 03" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8084/8343179628_dc206632c1_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>Other than the controller, I also bought a new power supply for my PC because the current 5-year-old power supply started acting weird and causes other hardware to fail.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.seasonicusa.com/G-series-450-550-650.htm" target="_blank">Seasonic G Series 550W</a>, Gold rated efficiency. Compared to the company&#8217;s higher end Gold rated X series PSU, G series is like poor man&#8217;s Gold label.</p>
<p><a title="2012 December - 04 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8342121835/" target="_blank"><img alt="2012 December - 04" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8357/8342121835_7b2d0930ae_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>Got this set of precision screwdriver as well.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been into PC building all these years but I never had a proper set of tools&#8230;</p>
<p><a title="2012 December - 05 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8342121597/" target="_blank"><img alt="2012 December - 05" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8219/8342121597_87bedc9fc6_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Trip to Cameron Highlands after my finals.</p>
<p>It was a good place for chilling out, other than that there&#8217;s nothing really special about that place other than fresh fruits, vegetables and tea.</p>
<p><a title="2012 December - 06 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8342121281/" target="_blank"><img alt="2012 December - 06" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8356/8342121281_a33ee37a54_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>Strawberries are just average, but since it is quite rare due to our country&#8217;s climate, hence the locals see them as some kind of alien fruit.</p>
<p>They would buy anything that is related to strawberries such as jam, dried product, juice and even plush toys. I bet the foreigners are amused to see that.</p>
<p><a title="2012 December - 07 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8343178556/" target="_blank"><img alt="2012 December - 07" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8073/8343178556_f8cd0e65ba_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>
<p>There&#8217;s cactus farm as well.</p>
<p><a title="2012 December - 08 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8342120543/" target="_blank"><img alt="2012 December - 08" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8071/8342120543_ff9b34e20f_b.jpg" width="900" height="601" /></a></p>

<p>Attended my first ever Comic Fiesta, Malaysia&#8217;s Comiket (comic market).</p>
<p>Comic Fiesta&#8217;s main attraction is the doujin circles, where talented illustrators and artists presenting and selling their artworks, manga and other sorts of artistic stuff.</p>
<p>More photos <a title="Comic Fiesta 2012 – 10 Years of Brilliance &amp; Awesomeness" href="http://www.johndiew.com/2012/12/comic-fiesta-2012-10-years-of-brilliance-awesomeness/">here</a>.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.dannychoo.com/post/en/26511/Culture+Japan+Night.html" target="_blank">Culture Japan Night</a>, a networking event organized by Danny Choo in order to bring like-minded people together and get to know each other.</p>
<p>I arrived pretty late and there&#8217;s still loads of people around.</p>
<p>Manage to talk to a few people there, it was kinda awkward when I try to start a conversation with someone. Nevertheless, I met a mobile app company&#8217;s co-founder and talked quite a bit of his company and applications.</p>
<p><a title="2012 December - 12 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8342119463/" target="_blank"><img alt="2012 December - 12" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8212/8342119463_00202df691_b.jpg" width="900" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Lucky enough to meet <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Choo" target="_blank">Dato Jimmy Choo</a> after a few minutes arriving.</p>
<p>Yeah, I know, what is going on with my hair style.</p>
<p><a title="2012 December - 13 by JohnDiew, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/johndiew0107/8342119233/" target="_blank"><img alt="2012 December - 13" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8362/8342119233_1bbf1deb76_b.jpg" width="601" height="900" /></a></p>
<p>Of course not to forget to take a photo with Danny Choo himself.</p>
