After the completion of Anime Festival Asia Malaysia, the upcoming satellite AFA event will be Anime Festival Asia Indonesia.
The event will be held at Jakarta International Expo on 1st – 2nd September 2012. It’s less than 2 weeks time!!
Unexpectedly, day 2 has far less people queuing for tickets, but weird that the hall is still full of people.
Nevertheless, we had explored the festival in day 1, so what’s left for day 2 is photo shooting of the cosplayers.
All the photos are taken with Lumix LX3. I could feel that LX3 is struggling to take good photos. Perhaps I should invest in a flashgun or upgrade to DSLR.
Anime Festival Asia or known as AFA, is Asia’s largest Japanese Pop Culture convention.
Followed by last year’s announcement during AFA 2011 at Singapore, regarding the expansion of AFA to it’s neighbouring countries.
For the very first time, Anime Festival Asia is coming to Malaysia!

Anime Festival Asia (AFA) is Southeast Asia’s biggest showcase of the latest Japanese popular culture and anime contents. Previously, AFA was organized at Singapore annually since 2008 This year, for the very first time, AFA is coming to Malaysia – Anime Festival Asia Malaysia (AFAMY).
AFA is coming to Malaysia.
The main event would be at Singapore in November though.
So far, there’s no info on the exhibitors and guests yet, just hope that AFA MY would be as awesome as AFA SG.
The second day of AFA11 was a crowd disaster. There are two other conventions took place at the same day besides AFA.
Basically there’s two major swarms of Zerglings, one for AFA, another for electronics. Although the third exhibition isn’t at the same level as the other two, but it took away the cosplayer’s floor space. Leaving the cosplayers and photographers wandering around.
The lighting was bad and the crowd was a mess. Terrible experience for cosplay photoshoot.
Danny Choo, known as one of the most successful and respected Japanese Pop Culture blogger. Last year’s AFA X, he was invited as a special guest. This year, he is the official emcee for stage events and even has his own booth.
Culture Japan is a TV show directed by Danny, introducing the Japanese Pop Culture contents to the viewers around the world. Season one was broadcast on Tokyo MX TV and ANIMAX Asia, now you can have it streamed at CrunchyRoll.
