Comic Fiesta 2015

Comic Fiesta 2015 - 00

Comic Fiesta 2015 come and go in a blink of an eye. This is my 4th time to attend the Malaysia’s largest and longest running Animation, Comics & Games (ACG) convention. I still remember when I first attended the convention back in 2012, I was shocked to know Malaysia has ACG convention at this scale.

Ironically, I started attending ACG conventions since 2009, particularly Anime Festival Asia Singapore, yet I have no idea about Comic Fiesta. Yes, I started attending conventions in Singapore instead of Malaysia despite the fact that I’m a Malaysian who stays locally. Nevertheless, one is never too late to join the fun.

This year, the CF committee has decided to have the convention held at Mines International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC) instead of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

They claim that MIECC is about 30% larger than KLCC, that is a good thing because based on the floor plan, I can see there are available room for future expansion. They are certainly getting better with the crowd control but improvements still need to be done to the lining layout. It took me quite some time to find the media registration booth during day 1.

The downside of MIECC is the building is rather ran down. Poorly maintained facilities especially the toilet, bad lighting at certain part of the hall, and not to mention the crazy traffic congestion due to the “genius” road planning.

I perfectly understands that it is not the committee to blame. But as quoted from MIECC website:

MIECC Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre is professionally managed and operated by MINES International Exhibition Centre Sdn Bhd.

Well, seriously? You have ONE job.

Even though MIECC is less accessible than KLCC, thanks to the committee’s shuttle bus arrangement, those who take public transport still can make it to the convention.

In my case, as I’m driving, I’m more than happy to pay for RM4 per entrance flat rate parking fee. In contrast to KLCC’s exorbitant parking rates.

In a nutshell, CF2015 has been a blast and I’m really looking forward to next year’s CF.

“But, where are the cosplayers’ photos?”

I hear you asking for that. If you follow my Facebook page, I’m sure you’ve already seen them.
