Mobile Suit Gundam MS Igloo: Apocalypse 0079

Plot Summary:

At the end of each experiment, the tale of the trials and tribulations faced by the weapon and its test pilot adds a small chapter to the long history of the One Year War.

Genre:Mecha, Military, Science-Fiction

Age Rating: Teenage and above (may contain bloody violence / bad language / nudity)

No. of Episodes: 3 OVA

Story

Continuation of the rocking MS IGLOO: The Hidden One Year War. Basically the same as its predecessor, stories about the Technical Division Unit testing new weapons. Oh, some spoilers… every episode tragically ends, same as the last series.. so, if you’re a emotional being, then I would suggest that don’t ever-react…

I’ll have it rated: 34.5/40

Animation

Studio: Sunrise

Year: 2006

Type: OVA

Slight improvement compared with the last series. The artwork is more detailed than “The Hidden One Year War”. Some mistakes during the last series were being overcome.

I’ll have it rated: 27.5/30

Even though the opening song had changed to a new song, but still the same… Decent song… so-so soundtracks…

Personal Rating

Nice story, outstanding CGI animation. If you’re finding a short anime which has nice story and animation, I’ll recommend MS IGLOO for you.

Story

Instead of stories about Gundams, this OVA had our focus on ZEON’s Technical Evaluation Unit. The story is told from the protagonist, Oliver May’s point of view. Each episode are about different prototype/test weapons and new pilots for the test units.

The show has very nice plots. I’m actually being dragged into the story in no time. They focus a lot on emotional parts in this OVA. For the first time, I’m saying this Gundam series is very touching..

I’ll have it rated: 34/40

Animation

Studio: Sunrise

CGI animations, the details are unbelievably precise, for the first time. I could see a character’s eyelash. However, the CGI is not 100% perfect, because there are some scenes look unnatural. But Still GREAT!!!

Overall, I’m very impressed with the animation of this series. But, the animation is more of a personal preference.I’ll have it rated: 27/30

I think the sound is the weakest part for this OVA, compared with the story and animation. The soundtracks just decent enough for me. While the opening doesn’t get much of my attention.

Personal Rating

I enjoyed the OVA very much. I didn’t expect much from this show and I’m really surprised by it.
